The 100-400 will be a hot rumor until it’s actually replaced. Don’t expect a 50 f/1.4 USM upgrade before a revamp of the 35L & 135L.

A different source claims Canon has demo versions of a non DO 400 f/4L IS lens in the hands of testers. This is something I heard a few months ago, and it has resurfaced.
